The Decline of Fetish/Kink YouTube

There was once a time, before I graduated from high school, when I would find myself on YouTube watching videos of people slipping on latex gloves or showing off their latex catsuits.

There were hundreds of videos available, most of them non-sexual and perfectly safe for viewing.

But something happened. YouTube started forcing age restrictions on videos featuring latex and rubber. Then, they started terminating channels for violating community guidelines. However, most of these videos and channels did nothing wrong, according to the guidelines. It seemed that YouTube wanted to remove fetish content just for what it was.

That has resulted in many of the channels that inspired me to create my own videos, as well as videos that helped me through discovering my fetish, being deleted. They are gone, nowhere to be found on the Internet.

For those of us still on YouTube, other factors have taken their toll on creating frequent uploads. I remember I time when there was always fresh content on my subscription feed or in my recommended videos. Now, weeks can go by without any new videos in my feed.

For whatever reason, fetish and kink creators on YouTube have stopped, or substantially reduced the number of videos they publish to the platform. It’s sad to see, and many of these now dormant creators will likely never return.

I also fell victim to giving up on creating for YouTube, at least when related to my fetish. I uploaded videos in 2016 primarily, before letting my channel die when I stopped uploading videos. I had become busy with college and work, and my other hobbies and interests began to take up all of my remaining free time. I didn’t have time to give to my fetish, let alone document it for the entertainment of others. When I stopped uploading, I thought that would be it for many years, probably until I was living alone.

But, recent events found me wanting to explore my fetish again, and more than ever I wanted to share it with the world. I posted a video in December 2019, and it fared well. Now in June, I’ve been uploading a few times each week to make up for lost time, and the growth is astonishing. With the lack of content being made, who knew there were so many people interesting in watching glove videos?

While there are a few creators still doing their best to make quality glove or latex videos, most have gone quiet or been banished from the platform. I feel that it is more important for me to upload than ever before, to help inspire others and show that they are not alone with their fetish much like YouTube did for me early on.

If anyone is interested in creating their own channel on YouTube, I’m here to help! Really, all you need to do is ask. You can message me on Instagram or Twitter (@LatexRocker). I have experience with filming (iPhones, DSLR cameras, action cameras like GoPros), editing, YouTube SEO, and more for many different types of content, so I can help in many ways. If you just need someone to recommend cameras or equipment, I’m your guy. If you need help uploading to YouTube, I can walk you through it. I really want to see this community grow again. It’s 2020. We should be louder and prouder than ever before.

This blog was a bit unstructured, but I felt it needed to be said. If you are interested in watching my YouTube videos, I’ll link one of my recent ones below. You can find my channel from there.
